Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting does not offer services to aggressive or highly reactive animals. As an Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting client, you agree to honestly represent your dog’s history, and disclose any history of biting and/or threatening behavior to a person or animal. You are responsible for all costs (including, but not limited to, medical care, legal fees, etc) if your dog bites a person or another animal while they are in our care. You are also responsible for contacting us if you notice any significant behavioral changes in your animal, and Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting agrees to do the same. We are unable to accept dogs that have a bite history resulting in medical intervention, either with another dog or a person.
We require that all dogs have had their core puppy vaccines (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, and Rabies), and that they either receive boosters or titers, at the recommendation of their vet. Dogs who are boarding with us additionally need to be on preventative flea treatment. Though the Bordetella, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, and Canine Influenza vaccines are not required, it is highly recommended that all adventuring dogs receive these vaccines. To start services with Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting, please forward a digital copy of your dog’s vaccination records to
Please be sure to inform us of any health condition your pets may have, including food allergies. Note that brachycephalic dogs, puppies, and geriatric dogs, and those with laryngeal paralysis or Addison's disease may require additional precautions and closer attention.
Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting cannot provide service to any pet that has any form of contagious illness. For the safety of our pet care providers and the other dogs in our care, please let us know if you need to suspend service due to animal illness.

Health & Safety
National Emergency & Pandemic Precautions
In the event that we are asked to care for your pet during a pandemic, we will do all that we can to limit our exposure to you and your home. All surfaces that we come into contact will be thoroughly cleaned with disinfectant and we will use our own equipment to prevent contamination. Read our COVID-19 update here.
Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting requires access to your home. We will not leave pets unattended outside of your home during service or after service ends.
Please remember to notify us via your Time to Pet portal when you have returned home safely. Otherwise, we will need to continue visiting to assure the safety and well-being of your pets. Additional trips will be added to your bill at the regular rate. Please notify us at ANY hour and let us know you have returned home.
We keep our pups happily hiking and playing during their time with us. The amount of exercise your dog needs depends on his or her age, breed, and health. Please speak with your vet if you have any concerns about your dog’s ability to go adventuring. Exercise modifications can be made for senior dogs, or pups recovering from injury or illness. Note that no dog will be pushed to exercise if he or she shows any signs of fatigue, and that rest stops and water breaks are part of every field trip and camp experience.
Fenced-in yards are wonderful playgrounds for our dogs and allow them additional space to exercise and play. However, no fence system is totally secure. Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting does not accept responsibility or liability for any client’s animals that escape or become lost or injured, fatal or otherwise, when instructed to stay with the clients animals in a fenced area. This includes electronic, wood, metal or any other type of fence. We also reserve the right to refuse yard play if the yard poses a threat to the pets or providers. For example: unsanitary conditions, stagnant water, excess animal waste, unkempt lawn, hazardous trash or items strewn about.
All dogs will be required to be on a 6’ leash during outdoor walks. Each walker will have a 6’ leash to use in the event you do not own one. We do not use retractable or coupler leashes due to safety hazards and lack of control. We ask that you please ensure that all harnesses and collars are free from tears and properly fitted to avoid your pet slipping out.
We will not use choke, prong, pinch, shock, or other aversive and potentially harmful collars when caring for your pets. In the event that you use aversive collars, we will supply a properly-fitted harness to help prevent any injury to your pet while they are in our care.
Injuries and Emergencies
Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting takes every precaution to ensure your pet’s safety. On our field trips and camp days, no dog is pushed beyond his or her physical comfort zone, and rest stops and water breaks are part of every adventure. Also, even though we are experienced in de-escalation in heightened situations with unknown dogs through the use of recall, retreat, diversion, and appropriate body language, adventuring presents risks, and your dog may get injured by another dog we meet while out on the trail. If your dog does get hurt while in our care, we will take them home, to your veterinarian, or to the closest veterinarian, depending on the severity of the injury. We will contact you right away, as well, and take your lead when it comes to your dog's care.
Though Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting is not financially responsible for any injury your dog may incur while adventuring, the risk of serious injury is quite low, and we will do everything in our power to prevent injuries of any kind.
Multiple Dogs for Dog Walks
For households with multiple dogs, Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting reserves the right to walk dogs separately and charge accordingly. All walks are individual unless there are two dogs in the household who are easily walked together. Walking one dog, or a well matched pair, allows the dogs to get the best workout and sensory experience possible while outside. It also allows us to give our full attention to them, and to be able to monitor their behavior, health and safety.
Inclement Weather Policy
We strive to create a safe and healthy environment for your pets and our staff. In the event of extreme temperatures or severe and hazardous weather conditions, your Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting professional will be directed to provide a potty break and spend the remainder of the visit playing with your pet indoors. These weather conditions include: temperatures exceeding 85 degrees, temperatures below 20 degrees, torrential or freezing rain, hail, and/or when lightning is present. If your pet has heat or cold sensitivities beyond breed standards please inform us at the time of your initial consultation. If we are physically unable to reach your home due to impassable roads, please provide us with emergency contact information so that we can contact this person to request assistance. Your pets’ health and well-being is our utmost concern and we will contact you as soon as possible to keep you informed of these events.
We understand the importance of your pet getting the medications they need. We are happy to administer oral medications. However, in the event that your pet refuses to swallow, or otherwise take any prescribed medications, we cannot be held responsible for unsuccessful medication administration attempts.
We will notify you if your animal vomits, has loose stool, has a notable change in behavior, or appears sick in any way. Please note that we cannot care for any animal that has any form of active contagious illness. If an Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting contractor is bitten or exposed to any disease or ailment received from client animals that have not been properly or currently vaccinated, you will be responsible for all costs and damages that may be incurred as a result.
Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting will purchase pet food, kitty litter, or other necessary items that are essential to the health and well-being of your pet while you are absent. We will retain a receipt and a charge will be added to your invoice. The pet owner will be responsible for reimbursement. Please make sure that all items needed to care for your pet (with an exception to leashes, harnesses, crates, poop bags) are in full supply prior to the start of service. Al Fresco Tails Pet Sitting is happy to provide equipment to assist in walking and transporting your pet at no additional charge.
